AHECs Associated with Family Practice Residencies |
Many of North Carolina's nine Area Health Education Centers (AHECs) are associated with family practice residencies. Because the AHEC mission is to advance the availability and quality of health care in underserved regions, these residencies offer some support and special experiences not found elsewhere. Each AHEC serves a number of surrounding counties, working to increase the number and diversity of health care professionals in that region and to provide them with information and education services. The nine regional AHECs are associated with the NC AHEC program, based at the University of NC at Chapel Hill. The NC AHEC program office provides leadership and resources to the statewide AHEC partnership. |
